How do we tell if our strategy is working?

If you cannot name a leading indicator and a kill criterion, you do not have a strategy you can manage — you have a story you can retell.

The short answer

Strategy that cannot be falsified will always look 'early'. Pick a dated leading indicator, an owner, and the observation that would reverse the bet. Lagging revenue two quarters later is not a management system. Percision writes those indicators into the plan; an operating system is what inspects them weekly.

How to tell this is actually your problem

The move that usually makes it worse: Adding more KPIs so the story has more charts and still no kill criterion.

When Percision is the wrong tool

Percision is the wrong tool if you already know the answer and only need execution capacity, or if the business is pre-revenue — then the constraint is evidence about the market, not analysis of your own figures.

Questions people ask

When is Percision the wrong tool?

Percision is the wrong tool if you already know the answer and only need execution capacity, or if the business is pre-revenue — then the constraint is evidence about the market, not analysis of your own figures.

What is a leading indicator here?

Something you can see weekly that would change the bet — attach rate, win rate in a named segment, contribution on new logos — not blended revenue.

Is this an OKR problem?

OKRs track a plan. If the plan has no kill criterion, OKRs will track a story. Decide the test first.
