A consultant costs $5,000–50,000.
Sometimes that is the right call.

We are not going to pretend software replaces a good strategist in every situation. It does not. Here is where each one genuinely wins, so you can spend the money where it actually pays.

Hire the consultant when

The problem is political, not analytical. If two founders disagree, or a board needs convincing, or a family business is deciding succession — you need a human with authority in the room. No document settles that.

You need someone accountable. A consultant can be held responsible, argued with, and asked to defend a recommendation under pressure. Software cannot.

The work needs doing, not deciding. If you need someone to run the process, interview your customers, and push change through an organisation that resists it, that is a person's job.

The stakes justify the fee. On a $50M acquisition, a $50,000 engagement is cheap insurance. Nobody should be running that decision off a subscription.

Use the platform when

The fee is out of proportion to the decision. Most businesses need good strategic thinking regularly and cannot justify a five-figure engagement each time. That gap is why most owners get no strategic input at all — not because they do not need it.

You need it now. Scoping, proposal, kickoff and delivery take weeks. Some decisions cannot wait that long, and a good answer this week routinely beats a better answer next quarter.

The question keeps coming back. Strategy is not a one-off. A consultant delivers once and leaves; the questions return every quarter, and paying the fee again each time is how the budget disappears.

You want to test your own thinking first. Plenty of people use the analysis to sharpen their view before hiring someone — arriving at the engagement with a position rather than a blank page, which usually shortens and cheapens it.

If you are the consultant

A number of independent advisors and boutique firms use Percision to do the analytical groundwork so their billable hours go into judgement, client relationships and change management — the parts a client actually pays a person for. If that is you, the advisor plans are built for it, including white-label output.
